Sued for sexual misconduct and child pornography, hair salon owner must pay $300,000 bail

Toronto Police announced Wednesday that a man who runs a hairdressing business had been charged with sexual assault after they executed a search warrant at his Scarborough hair salon last month. The complainant in the case had come forward to Halifax Regional Police and said that the hairdresser had sexual intercourse with her under the age of 14.

The man, who has not been identified, is being held on $300,000 bail after police searched his store and found child pornography along with drugs, the Financial Post reported.

“She told me that she was afraid to tell the [mother of a male client] what happened,” the 18-year-old victim told the broadcaster, which identified her only as Jaya. “So we used his computer to secretly transfer more videos online and download more videos to my computer.

“The guy abused me,” she continued. “I told the police. The people I told found me on Facebook and that’s how I reached out to Halifax and Toronto police.”

As of press time, the man has not been charged with any additional sexual misconduct.
