Arsenal manager Unai Emery says his squad has so much work to do to be “at the same level” as some of their Premier League rivals.

The Gunners moved to the top of the table with a 3-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday.

They top the early top-flight table but Emery says his side must improve on their defensive record.

“It’s very important to have a good relationship with our defensive line and the defenders,” said Emery.

“It’s very important to build the links better with our defenders and we need to be at the same level.”

Arsenal’s win at the John Smith’s Stadium was their sixth successive victory, and was the first time they have taken maximum points after two matches since January 2007.

They lead Liverpool, who drew 1-1 at Leicester on Saturday, and Chelsea by two points but Emery says his side can only qualify for the Champions League by winning the Premier League.

“Liverpool have played fantastic this season,” added Emery. “The Champions League is a target for all teams, but we want to win the Premier League.”

Speaking after Saturday’s match, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey said Arsenal were improving.

“We’re getting better and better. This win is proof,” he said.

Arsenal were without skipper Laurent Koscielny and defender Hector Bellerin, who will both be unavailable for the match at Anfield on Saturday.
