A man has been charged after a Dutchman was punched in the face on a moped when he was asked to wear a mask.

The teenager, who was known to use a mask when riding his bike, hit the man with such force, he was knocked to the ground.

CCTV footage shows the victim being held to the ground after apparently being ordered to wear a mask.

The video is believed to have been filmed on a Newcastle moped ride in December.

South Tyneside police said a man had been charged after detectives reviewed new evidence on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with robbery, possessing a blade, and being a prohibited person in possession of blade.

He will appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on September 6.

People give their reactions.

And some are more sympathetic.
