Gordon Ramsay cried as his daughter lost out to Stephanie Waring on Strictly Come Dancing

It may not have been our happiest episode, but there were still moments of joy (save the The Colourful Family) as Strictly Come Dancing launched back with a bang.

Following close behind the grand return of The X Factor was the return of one of TV’s best-loved shows, and as the first episode of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing aired, the most all-powerful force in the entertainment industry, Gordon Ramsay, came to tears as his daughter Tilly got the boot.

The famous chef and restaurateur left the dancing competition after being voted off the show by the judges for the second time in her short time on the show.

After being given poor scores from the judges, Ramsay was joined by his dancing daughter Tilly as the pair took to the stage, while the contestants’ families watched from the audience.

“I don’t know what to say,” he said. “But I’m doing my best.

“I’m totally embarrassed, but I loved every minute of it.”

I’ve been on the show since the first week and I’m the oldest contestant, but I have also learnt the most and danced the best. I was a late comer to the show and never thought I’d make it to week 6. I was robbed of a 9! @bbcstrictly — Gordon Ramsay (@GordonRamsay) September 12, 2017

Ramsay then shed a tear as the result was announced, moments after his daughter admitted she was “baffled” after getting the lowest score from the judges, and praised the judges for their score of 10 from Craig Revel Horwood.

Tilly Ramsay and her dance partner AJ Pritchard lost out in the dance-off to Hollyoaks’ former Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring, and were sent home by the judges.

“It’s been a great journey,” Ramsay said. “It’s been a long time coming.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One.
